What would you do if you had a year (or less) to live?
Last week I had the pleasure of meeting the amazing Shannon Skinner! Her credits include authoring books such as The Whispering Heart, Your Inner Guide to Creativity, as well as writing for film. She has also coached countless clients in Public Relations.
But what struck me most is that Shannon is an authentic, heart warming, and stunning woman!
After our fantastic time on her show "Extraordinary Women", where we chatted about feminine energy, how to love being a woman, erotic dancing, and other forms of fitness fun, we went for a coffee. I was awestruck by what she then told me.
I asked Shannon how long she had been in broadcasting. Her reply? A little over a month! Whaaaaaaat??? Wow, I had no idea! She was a total pro, and her energy was so welcoming and warm in the studio!
So of course I wanted to know how it all started… She explained that a few months ago a close friend of hers sadly confessed to her that he had a year to live!
We were sitting at Starbucks, and of course my eyes instantly welled up with tears…
She then went on to tell me that besides being so saddened by the news, her mind was sucked into a whirlwind of,
"Oh My God, what would I do if I had a one year to live?"
Now, we all may have asked ourselves that question at one time or another, as a form of motivation, or a way to get us to move forward and take action. But when it’s a reality for someone close, someone you care for, it hits home, hard, and the emotions that are evoked affect you in a powerful way. At that point, she said to herself.
"Shannon, you have always wanted to have an empowering, inspiring show… Do it!"
Well, two to three weeks later, she did!!
This woman is an example of looking fear in the eyes and not skipping a beat!
I am so inspired by Shannon, and I cannot express how blessed I feel to have met her and shared those beautiful moments with her.
I know we will cross paths again soon… I feel it!
Thank you Shannon!
I couldn’t think of a better way to describe you than the title of your show.
"Extraordinary Women"
